Antalya Gazipasa Airport to Open Summer 2009

The Antalya Gazipasa airport, in the resort town of Alanya is finally to be opened for operation in the summer of this year, having been built since 1999, according to The Route Shop. The airport will be secondary to the main Antalya airport, but is expected to become very busy due to the large British and German expatriate communities in Alanya.
Possible routes being talked about for the airport include: Moscow, St Petersburg, London, Manchester, Birmingham, Berlin, Frankfurt, Cologne, Amsterdam, Brussels and Munich. Earlier this week we revealed new flights from the UK to Bodrum and Dalaman by Easyjet.
The fact that Turkey's accessibility is constantly being improved is both a testament to its massive growth in popularity with global tourists, and excellent news for the property markets surrounding Turkey's upcoming resorts.
In a press release last year, Dalaman was named as number 1 most popular resort in the world by a major British tour operator. Last week we revealed on our blog (spotblue.wordpress.com) that British visitors to Turkey had been growing by 20-25% annually for the last few years, and is expected to grow 25% this year, according to the person we spoke to at the Association for British Travel Agents.
Turkey is the next Spain when it comes to British tourists. Therefore investors are very active in the market at the moment, with the plan of selling to the waves of British retirement and holiday home buyers there will be over the next few years -- and for a massive profit.

This is the first of a series of articles released by Spot Blue, that we hope will become valuable resources for anyone considering either a property purchase or a holiday in the country.
Flights to Turkey
Turkey is becoming more accessible almost by the week. Just this month UK budget airline EasyJet announced new cheap flights to Turkey from the UK, London to Bodrum from £103 to be exact. The new flights, which start April 23, follow the announcement from Pegasus airline that they are also launching new flights to Turkey this year, and join a host of other UK and European airlines already operating flights to Turkey, including: EasyJet and Jet2.
Of course, it is not just British airlines that operate flight to Turkey, since the boom times there are Turkish airlines; there is even a budget Turkish airline, all operating flights to Turkey. THY, the main Turkish airline operates flights between Turkey and countries around the world, OnurAir has now focussed its service on flights to and from Turkey, and Atlas, Turkey's budget airline makes flights from Turkey affordable.
Weather in Turkey
Turkey is a large country and traverses three different climatic zones, making the weather in Turkey different depending on which region you go to and at which time of the year. Weather in Turkey differs mainly in three main climatic zones:
In Turkey's northern coastal region the weather is mainly cooler, and has comparatively more rain to other parts of Turkey. While Turkey's Southern and Western coastal regions, on the Mediterranean and Marmara seas is predominantly mild. And the weather in Turkey's central interior region is predominantly the hottest part; with cold winters and hot dry summers.
Spot Blue compares many sources of forecasts for weather in Turkey and as such provides a valued source of information on Turkey's weather for ex-pats and potential buyers of property in Turkey.
Map of Turkey
Like everywhere else, a crucial part of selecting property in Turkey, where to buy property or both is often, for many people at least, to look at a map of Turkey -- especially given Turkey's varied weather between regions as laid out above.
Spot Blue offers its own detailed map of Turkey, and is a valued source for many different maps of Turkey giving details of whatever visitors may find necessary.
Flag of Turkey
Spot Blue's final resource on Turkey is a large illustration of Turkey's flag. Knowing what the Turkish flag looks like can sometimes be very valuable for those buying property or holidaying in Turkey.
